Minutes of Some things to be conſidered and acted upon
by the Board of Corriſpondents in the Coloney of Connecticut
at their Next Meeting. viz. on March. 12. 1765.
  • 1. To Examine M.r Titus Smith and M.r Theo.s Chamberlain in
    order to their being Authorised, & Sent forth as Miſsionaries
    to the Indians viz. on March 1st 1765.
  • 2. In Caſe M.r Chamberlain be approved, then to agree upon a
    proper Application to be made in his Behalf to the Preſident
    and Corporation of Yale College for Liberty to Send him, and he
    not fail of his Degree at the proper Seaſon on that account
  • 3. to Examine the Indian Boys in the School & Judge how
    Many are Qualified for School Maſters, and of the Expediency
    of their going next Spring — and under Whose Conduct.
  • 4. to Appoint a day for the Ordination of the Miſsionaries, and
    determine whether it Shall not be obſerved as a day of faſting
    and Prayer by all that Attend upon it.
  • 5. to Conſider Whither it be not expedient to Send, a Licence
    to preach, to M.r Kirtland now among the Six Nations.
  • 6. To conſider & determine reſpecting the Sending M.r John Brai‐
    ‐nerd
    to Europe next Spring to aſk the Charities of people there
    for the Support of this School and Miſsionaries. And what Recom‐
    ‐mendation and Credentials he Shall be furniſhed with.
  • 7. To hear the Articles of Complaint againſt M.r Occom, and Judge
    thereon.
  • 8. to appoint a meet Perſon to Accompany M.r Brainerd
    to Europe.
  • 9. To adviſe Reſpecting the Place to build a Houſe for this School
    provided my Suit for the Royal Favour be not Succeſsful.
  • 10. To adviſe Reſpecting a Blackſmith for the Benefit of the School
    or whether it be not Expedient to Set one up at preſent, if one
    may be found who will conſent to move with the School if it ſhod
    be removed.
  • 11. Whether this Board will take the Patronage of this School in Caſe of
    my Removal, or being incapable to conduct the Affairs of it, and
    it be left deſtitute of one in my Stead to do it.
  • 12. Whether they will not appoint M.r Samuel Gray of this School
    Scribe or Regiſter to this Board, and appoint him a Reaſonable
    Reward for that Service — or Whether they Shall not think he will
    at leaſt deſerve his own Board, for keeping the Books & accots
    for this Board and School.
  • 13. to rewiew the minutes of our former meeting, and vote them if
    we think proper in order to their being Recorded.
  • 14. to fix upon the moſt Eaſie and Effectual Method to notify
    the meetings of this Board. and determine how many Shall make a Quorum.
