Dear Mother:
Left Nome Sept. 9th. Arrived East Cape, Siberia, 3 P.M. Sept. 10th. The Russian governor with an interpreter came aboard and we answered his questions quite diplomatically. I went ashore. Experienced a day of bad weather and unfavourable winds that lost us 44 hrs. Yesterday at noon sighted island and now, 5:30 P.M., are within a mile of it, negotiating a harbour. Am writing now as will order boat to leave directly we unload. Expect to do the big job in about an hour or so. I am the only one on the part not effected by seasickness on our travels which has made the prospects of the winter seems easier. Have an abundance of supplies and the island seems quite inviting. Be sure and get in touch with Stefansson should he pass through Toronto. Keep note of all the interesting things that occur during the winter and let me know next spring. I am not sure whether I will be out next year or not - possibly not. Don't write current events except Can. Politics as I will have Literary Digest, etc.
Love to you all, good bye,
