Dear Mother,
Left Nome Sept 9 th . Arrived East Cape
Siberia 3 P.M. Sept 10 th . The Russian governor
with an interpreter came aboard + we answered
his questions quite diplomatically [went ashore]. Experienced
a day of bad weather + unfavorable winds that
lost us 44 hrs
[???]
Yesterday at noon sighted
island and now 5:30 P.M. are within a mile
of it negotiating a harbour. Am writing now as
[th]
will order boat to leave directly we unload.
Expect to do the big job in about an hour or
so. I am the only one on the party not effected by
seasickness on our travels which has mademe
feel rather
a the prospect of the winter seem
easier. Have an abundance of supplies + the island
seems quite inviting. Be sure + get in touch
with Stefansson should he pass through
Toronto
[W??]
Keep note of all the interesting things
that occur during the winter + let me know next
spring.

I am not sure whether I will be out next
year or not - possibly not. Don't write current eventsas
except Can. Politics as I will have Literary Digest etc.
