September 14th, 1921.
Dear Taylor:
This is in reply to your letter of September 6th.
I agree with your first paragraph as to putting a time limit on
Crawford's option. Please write to him on behalf of the Company
outlining what the terms will be and mentioning the time limit.
Put it at one year or two years, as you think fair.

I have had to postpone my trip to England because
of a delay in publishing my book. The proofs must be read over
carefully by myself and there are many details to be looked after.
The publishers had promised to have the first proofs for me about
AugustSeptember 20th, but they have actually arrived only today. I shall,
therefore, have to make my trip to England either during the Christ
mas vacation or I may even have to postpone it until March.

An alternative possibility is that I may be able
to talk the matter over with Mr. Lloyd George when he comes to
Washington on the Armament Conference. Of course the Prime Min
ister has, when he chooses, the functions also of any other Min
ister and he could act on behalf of Mr. Churchill. It is even
possible that Mr. Churchill may be a member of the Commission.
In that case I should not have to go to England at all.
