Dear Wife
I received your kind
letter dated the 7th. day before yesterday
which makes the third since I came
here.
My health is very poor indeed
as I have been confined to my bunk
about ever since I have been in this
place.
If I only had something
nourishing to strengthen me I think
I should get along pretty fast, as I am
feeling a great deal better, but am
very weak.
We have not been paid off yet
but expect the Paymaster along
by the first of next week.
I wish you would send me some
postage stamps and some newspapers
when you can conveiniently.
You need not expect me home
on a furlough as I think it is an
imposibility of my getting one.
Hopeing you will write
as quick as this comes to hand
I remain
Your husband
John Mc. Coy.
