Sir
Last Evening Lieutenant Stow informed me that you desired
me to Send Caesar up to you by his Canoe, and though the Message could not
come in writing as you proposed, I intended to comply with it
— Soon after I received that Message Esquire Morey came, who informed
me that he had your Leave and Authority to Stop and employ Caesar at his House
which he proposed to do but on Seeing the very Special and great Necessity
I Stood in of his Service at present an account. of My principal Cash's
being gone he kindly resigned up his Rights and and upon this Ground
I venture to detain him 'til I have further Orders which I hope
Will not be 'til my Cash Returns — and upon further Consideration I have
concluded to buy the Negro if he proves to be the Slave Which you
take him to be, provided you continue to be of the Same mind
as you was when you Offered him to me for £20. Lawful money and I
Will engage to Make the payment very soon after I can be certified of a
good Title to him — pray Sir please to write me your mind in the affair
and What account you have of Caesar from Richard Grimes and Benjamin Buyarnton Which with Respects and good Wishes for Your prosperity
is the needful in haste

from Sir your Friend and humble Servant
Eleazar Wheelock
To Captain Moses Little
