To Exeter Negro This is to Let you know that
I the [Subscriber] am one of His majestys Justices of
the Peace I am under Great and Strong obligations
to Preserve the Kings Peace —
and there Has Been a Complaint made to me
That you are Guilty of Great abuses to your wife
Cloe and you Let your Bad temper Rage. So that
you are Troublesome to His majestys Good People.—
And this is to order you to appear Before me
at the Reverend Doctor Wheelocks this Day for
about two Hours High at Night to Be further
Dealt with according to Law and Justices
Given under my hand at Lebanon the 21st Day
of December AD 1768
