Concerning a Scandilous Defamation Spred by Captain Daniel
Smally; tending to Defame Samuel Smally of said Lebanon;
the father of her Child which She was Supposed to be pregnant
With When you was Carried to her by her master Dean, as
you have before testified — he did Carry you —
Answer. upon the Desire of Captain Dean and his Wife I asked
her who was the father of her Child. She Said She dare not
tell. I asked her again; and Said She might tell me; She
Said again She dare not tell because he said he
would kill her — afterwards She Said when I asked
her again, who was the father of the Child: that it was
Samuell Smallys the 2nd
kill her if She told who was the father of her Child —
Answer: no never, any Such thing; I do not Remember that
Ever I heard her Say anything about her old Master
