The Testimony of of Elizabeth Waterman of Norwich (viz)
That When I was Carried to Captain Jabez Deans Negro Wench as
mentioned in his Testimony: at first by her actions I supposed her
to be in Travel : then at Captain Deans and his wife Desire I Examined
the wench who was the father of her Child She told me it was
Samuel Smalley the. second: then upon Search I found her not to be
With Child or Ever had been as I Could perceive, So I informed
Captain Deanand his wife. and then ever Was Called to said wench
on any account neither before nor since the time above mentioned and
further that when I was with the wench Some time she Said She was with Child and again.
that she was not —

Norwich December 30th 1749 Then Came and
personally appeared Mrs. Elizabeth waterman the above Deponent
and made Solemn oath to the Truth of the above written
Deposition; Captain Daniel Smalley having been Notified to be
present: by a Copy of a Citation Left at his Dwelling house in
Lebanon: on the 27th Instant; but not Present —
