My dear Sir.—
hand 17th Instant. Mr Bingham suppoſes yt He
sent you a meſsage by Elihu Pomeroy later than
your Letter & that the cheeſe is now upon the
road, and if that be the caſe, and the Negro also
with it, it is well. — If you have yet waited for
my anſwer — I would have you procure the Cheeſe
and send it along by the Negro if that may be
done with safety, & provided also I can make such
remittance, as will answer, I understand the money
must be paid down for the cheeſe, I have no ex-
pectation of getting the hard money, & I am not
quite certain of Paper, tho I depend upon having
it. and as to the Negro, I dont know when I shall
be able to pay for him, as I am in no capa-
city to collect a debt & when our Wiſe Men
will order matters so that I may have justice
in a courſe of Law I cant tell, however I will do
the best I can. — I expect to stand in need of
a Man & Woman to take care of & manage a
Dairy of 20, or 30 Cows next Summer. Mr Loveland
who married a Bigalow & lives near you, this e-
vening offers his & his wifes Service, for the enſu-
-ing year they are wholly Strangers to one and you
you know how important & delicate the buſiness
is - I perceive that Deacon Buel & the Widow
Day are well acquainted with them. pray be
so good if you dont know enough already as to en-
-quire of their fitneſes to be imp
service and if you can heartily recommend them
as being sufficiently skilful in the buſineſs care-
-ful, prudent, honest & faithful that I may im-
-prove them without fear. pleaſe to recommend them
as I shall give them no encouragement to em-
-ploy them without it. I can rely upon what
you shall say on the affair.
behaves to my entire satisfaction. his greatest
danger is of too cloſe an application. He ap-
-pears to be will content.
with much affection & Esteem
your obliged Friend and
very hum.b Ser.t —
