Know all men by these Preſents that I Peter Spencer of
Eaſt Haddam in ye. County of Hartford and Coloney of
Connecticut in New
England, for and in Conſideration of Sixty five Pounds Lawful Money paid to
my full Satiſfaction by Eleazar Wheelock of Lebanon in the County of Wind
-ham and Coloney afore sd Have given granted
bargain -ed Sold and by the Preſents to give grant bargain sell convey and confirm
to the sd
Wheelock his Heirs and aſsigns fore Life My negro man
Servant Named Briſ -ter aged about twenty one years,
To have and to ho[gap: page torn] the same
as a good in defeaſable Eſtate, to him & their own proper use and behoof and
furthermore I do for my self my Heirs &c covenant to & with the sd
Wheelock his Heirs &c that at & until the Signing
& Seating of theſe Preſents, I am well seir’d of the Premiſes and
have good Right to bargain & sell the same as in above Expreſsed & that he
sd
Briſter is of a Healthy & sound Conſtitution and
is free from any Diſtemper or Diſorder of Body or mind that may prejudice his
usefulneſs in the Capacity of a Slave in witneſs where of I have hereunto let my
