The Commttee of Directors of y.e Society in Scotland for propagating Christian Knowledge  in Vertue of the Powers, granted to them by the general meeting of sd Society; & agreable  to a particular Appointment of the general meeting, held ye 24th of Novr last;  having taken under their Consideration, the Signal Succeſs, with which it hath  pleased God almighty, to bleſs y.e British Arms, in North America, during the late  warr; & that Providence thereby presents a favourable Opportunity, & calls upon  them to improve it, for enlarging & promoting the Kingdom of Christ, in those  dark Places of the Earth, that are full of the Habitations of Cruelty: And it  having been represented to them by Mr Eleazar Wheelock Teacher of an Indian  Charity School; at Lebanon in ye Colony of Connecticutt in New-England,  that several well disposed Persons there would gladly contribute to further  the above Design, conform to a Petition, transmitted to said Society; did by  their Commiſsion under ye Common Seal of sd Society, & signed by sd Preeses  of the Committee of Directors, & Clerk of sd Society at Edinburgh, the  13th Day of March. An: Dom: 1764, nominate & appoint the following  Persons, Viz Jonathan Huntington Esqr of Windham, Elisha Sheldon Esqr  of Litchfield, Mr Samuell Huntington attorney at law of Norwich, The  Revd Meſsrs Solomon Williams of Lebanon, Nathanael Eells of Ston‐   ington, Joseph Fish of Stonington, Samuel Moseley of Windham  William Gaylord of Norwalk, Eleazer Wheelock of Lebanon,  Benjamin Pomroy of Hebron, David Jewett of New London, Richard  Salter of Mansfield, Nathaniel Whitaker of Norwich, as their  Correspondents, in ye Colony of Connecticutt aforesd for promoting the  great & good Design of propagating our holy Religion among the Indians  as by sd Commiſsion may more fully appear. —  The sd Correspondents being duly notified, mett by vertue of sd  Commiſsion, at Lebanon Second Society, July the 4th A: D: 1764.  And were present, Jonathan Hungtington Esqr, Elisha Sheldon Esqr  Mr Samll Moseley, Eleazer Wheelock Benjn Pomroy, David Jewett  Richard Salter, Nath el Whitaker. — And sd Commiſsion proceeded  as follows. — The Revd Solomon Williams was chosen Preeses,  Jonathan Huntington Esqr Treasurer, ye Revd Eleazar Wheelock Secretary  ye Revd Nathl Whitaker Accomptant, ye Revd Richard Salter Clerk.  Voted That the Secretary write to ye London Commiſsioners at Boston  in whose employ Mr Sampson Oacham is at Present, desiring them  to allow us to send him on a Miſsion to the western Indians, as soon  as he can conveniently go, & also asking the Favour of their Continuing  the Annuity they have voted him last February.  Voted ye following Persons to be a Committee, to act under direction ofsd  Correspondents, Viz Jonathn Huntington Esqr & ye Revd Meſssrs Solomon  Williams, Eleazar Wheelock & Benjan Pomroy, & yt Said Comttee  take into Consideration, & Enquiry ye Propriety of sending Mr Ashpo to  the Indians at Jeningo, & act accordingly. —  Voted That ye President & Secretary draw up & transmitt as soon as  may be a Letter of Thanks, in ye Name of the Correspondents to  the Honble Society, for ye Commiſsion reciev'd from them as aforesd
