Handwriting is somewhat scrawling, though largely clear and legible. The superscripts are occasionally difficult to decipher. Small square sheet is in fair condition, with moderate staining and wear. There is a large tear on the right side of one recto, which results in no loss of text. Large portions of the wax seal remain. Brown-black ink is somewhat faded. The manuscript number is based on the date in the trailer, written in Wheelock’s hand: November 25. However, in the dateline, it is uncertain what numbers Walcutt deletes and/or adds.

The Occom Circle Project is a digital edition of letters from and to Samson Occom (1727-1792), with other of his works. The documents in question are all housed in Dartmouth College's Rauner Special Collections Library. Occom was a Mohegan Indian, intertribal leader, public intellectual, and the most important Indian writer in North America in the 18th century.
