Handwriting is formal and clear. Large sheet folded in half to make four pages is in fair-to-good condition, with moderate staining and wear. Much of the wax seal remains. There is some separation at the creases. In the fifth line of the letter's first paragraph, the meaning of the world "clostly" is uncertain. Handwriting is the same as on 765566.1, 767115.1, 767351.1, 767552, 767559, 767562.2, 767630.2, 767660.2, and possibly 767231, 767251 and 768371.2. It is likely that of Edward Deake, schoolmaster at Charlestown. The letter is signed “Toby Shaddick,” a variant spelling of his name, which is spelled yet another way in the trailer.

The Occom Circle Project is a digital edition of letters from and to Samson Occom (1727-1792), with other of his works. The documents in question are all housed in Dartmouth College's Rauner Special Collections Library. Occom was a Mohegan Indian, intertribal leader, public intellectual, and the most important Indian writer in North America in the 18th century.
