Handwriting is formal, yet small and occasionally difficult to decipher. Medium-sized single sheet folded in half to make four pages is in good condition, with light staining, creasing and wear. Brown ink is heavily faded. The contents of this letter are similar to those of manuscript 765511.1

The Occom Circle Project is a digital edition of letters from and to Samson Occom (1727-1792), with other of his works. The documents in question are all housed in Dartmouth College's Rauner Special Collections Library. Occom was a Mohegan Indian, intertribal leader, public intellectual, and the most important Indian writer in North America in the 18th century.

But this wont hurt Mr Mr. Occom — If he is not come away pray dont let him stay a moment longer than ye the time Inoculation takes. Pray let him come to London by Coach privately & and unseen, & and Let him first see Mr Mr. Whitefield.

D.r Dr. Guifford Gifford has £117. now in his hands: On saying to him ye the last great Mi&slong;sions missions were without Fund & and that your own Estate lay layd laid at risq risk ? He replyd replied with Emotion The dear Man shant pay a penny. On my saying M.r Mr. Occum Occom will get a Bu&slong;shel bushel of mony money he replyed replied Ay Aye that he will.

Mr Mr. Whitefield tells me Mr Mr. Erskins Erskine has got in his hands £600. for the Indians.
