Handwriting is loose and occasionally difficult to decipher. Single large sheet is in good conditon with light-to-moderate creasing, staining and wear. There is some tearing near remnants of seal, but it results in no loss of text. Brown-black.

The Occom Circle Project is a digital edition of letters from and to Samson Occom (1727-1792), with other of his works. The documents in question are all housed in Dartmouth College's Rauner Special Collections Library. Occom was a Mohegan Indian, intertribal leader, public intellectual, and the most important Indian writer in North America in the 18th century.

I have ſome some Difficult ties In My Mind abt about Mr Mr. Occum Occom s going to England, Eſpecially especially as Sent by the Commiſsrs Commissioners not only because I am Suſpicious suspicious he will be prevaild prevailed on to Take Epiſcopal Episcopal orders, but becauſe because , he has by his Medling meddling in the Indian Affairs very much Diſguſted disgusted the Government & and A Good Deal Diſaffected disaffected ſome some to the Indian School who before had a Favourable Opinion of it. & and if he goes as Sent by Us Now I no know Maſon Mason is in England ſolliciting soliciting the old Maſon Mason Affair it will be Difficult to make ye the Govt government believe that we have no Eie eye to that or that Occums Occom's being there will have no Influence upon it. there is Nothing lies in My Mind againſt against Mr Mr. Braynerd Brainerd s going or in any proper way deſiring desiring the Aſsiſtance assistance of the N New York & and N New Jerſey Jersey board of Correſpndents Correspondents In the Affair, but Really My Mind is too Dark to judge Abt about it in Expedients
