Handwriting is small and heavily slanted, yet mostly clear and legible. Punctuation is often difficult to decipher, but there appear to be inverted semicolons. Large single sheet is in good conditon. The paper is silked along heavy creases. Brown-black. Abbreviated. On one recto, line four of the body of the letter, it is uncertain to whom Rev. "mar.t" refers, and so he has been left untagged. It is also uncertain to which son of William Johnson Ashpo refers, and so he also has been left untagged.

The Occom Circle Project is a digital edition of letters from and to Samson Occom (1727-1792), with other of his works. The documents in question are all housed in Dartmouth College's Rauner Special Collections Library. Occom was a Mohegan Indian, intertribal leader, public intellectual, and the most important Indian writer in North America in the 18th century.
