Sino-Viet ritual texts.: Vol 1.
Date1924
ms number003209
abstractThis Buddho-Taoist codex consists of two works: the first contains rituals with detailed illustrations of mudras and ends with 21 chapters of chants and illustrations of wheels of heavenly and earthly lanterns, the second, in a different hand, contains sutras for the soul's transcendence and includes an illustration of 8 bagua trigrams and a river chart and luo writings. Modifications and references to individuals indicate that these rituals were probably copied for a specific person's death ceremony. Use of the imperial system of dates indicates that this was copied in Vietnam rather than overseas.
