Extract from letter of Mr. John Maurer
to Mrs. J. I. Crawford, dated Jan. 29, 1925.
"I was not pleased with the manuscript
but Mr. S. is writing the book and I was
willing to let him have anything of Fred's
that would help him. Since no one connected
with the last expedition is satisfied, the best
thing for him to do would be to abandon
it altogether.....
"I am willing to write Mr. S. requesting
that the book be not published if Knights
and Galles agree. If you will write to
them and get their opinion I believe
he can prevent the publishing of the
book."
