The JAPAN Progressive Party held an inauguration meeting of its TOKYO Branch at SHIYOKEN,
MARUNOUCHI, at 1400 on 22 December.
Mr. YAMAMI, Takeji has been appointed Chief of the Branch and Mr. KAWAGUHI, Hisashi,
Chief Secretary.

Full Translation:
With the inauguration of [illegible]CHADA, Chuji as president, the Progressive Party has been attempting to
strengthen its position in preparation for the forthcoming general election. The party
decided to give membership to six
persons, and chose a secretary-general. The appointment of managers of general affairs
has been carried out on the basis of
five from each of the two parties (the former "SEIYU-KAI" and the former "MINSET-TO").
Mr. [illegible]CHIDA,
Chuji of the MINSEI group has been appointed president, and the great statesman, Mr.
SH[illegible]DA,
Toshio, of the SETYU-MAI group, has been made one of the managers of the party. Because
of women's suffrage, Madame YOSHIOKA,
Yayoi has joined the Party as one of its top leaders. This shows the character of
the party. In order to be ready for the
forthcoming general election, an election committee was to be established. The election
committee, however, was not selected,
a secretary-general having been chosen to manage the election.
