I have lately returned from my successful journey to Boston, much worried and fatigued, in consequence of which our two missionaries Set out on their long tour yesterday with £25 lawful money each, and £20 for Kirtland; the School masters are to Set off next monday
While I was at Boston I had opportunity to hear of the influ­ence of your letter against Mr. Occom, and the great prejudice to his Character and Strong prejudices imbibed against him, and I apprehend against our Board of Commissioners on that account — And if there be nothing more to justify what you have done than what we have heard, I earnestly advise you as a brother to Settle that matter according to your agreement with the Board as Soon as may be — Their honour, and the whole Indian cause lies at Stake — And I apprehend must be vindicated Some way or other, as well as Mr. Occom — If you suspect I am not friendly in this matter, I am persuaded the consequence will fully convince you of the contrary, and very brotherly too. I don't See but Mr. Occom is really disposed to peace and friendship, and to be a great friend to you, if he knew how to be So in a channel to be understood. There is a meeting of the Board of Correspondents appointed to be at my house next Tuesday come 7 nights at 12. O'clock; pray dont fail.
